Re: Individual Piety

Ultimately, regardless of anything else said - new mechanics can certainly be tried, and I'll happily embrace what I can to see them come to fruit. I wasn't 100% sure yet which of the proposed ideas here staff was considering. But anything that gives people a poke to want to interaction with clergy ...

Re: Individual Piety

Go through the motions and pretend you are performing your role and never do anything political or with economic ramifications that may get your killed? Is this not why we have death exp? One thing to ponder and consider is that Priests don't have a "skill set" so to say to naturally funn...

Re: Individual Piety

Sure, you'll have the occasional braver player confessing something dangerous but what's the point if it's a sealed piece of information. Even then, its a rather empty gesture. Even if it doesn't become a wide spread piece of info, it can certainly provide some inner conflict with the person it's s...

Re: Individual Piety

The issue as I see it is that the *players* in the Order have publicly declared that they will not allow people to confess things like magery, etc, without repercussion despite what the help files say. Not to argue, but when did this happen? I've had people personally confess all kinds of things to...

Re: Individual Piety

No one in their right ooc mind would reveal something so damaging that it threatens the reputation or life of their character, unless priming them for death and a reroll or liquidation. But that's the very core of the disconnect - OOCly you realize that doing so is a risk you likely don't want to t...

Re: Cigars?

Going with Kinaed's thoughts, indeed a cigar type roll of tobacco into other leaves is originally how Columbus reported the Tainos of Cuba smoked tobacco when he first encountered it. Smoking in pipes actually came after, arguably, historically/technology wise. I think one thought would be - could w...

Re: Individual Piety

One of the current problems with playing priests is played out on this thread. OOCly, people consider attending such functions boring and a waste of their time and will freely say so. That confession is a risk (true) and well ... speaking to someone might not be able to help, so why bother. I'm not ...

Re: Cigars?

I can assure you it's possible with a Greenhouse. If tabac is meant to cost that much, either the helpfile and/or on grid prices might need a peek. There's on grid NPC places that sell a pinch for less than ten silver. There's some PC shops that have had them for five. And each pinch is worth four s...

Re: Cigars?

Tabac is only arguably at insane prices if people are buying stuff from the NPC shops. One can indeed plant and grow their own tabac - perhaps not in huge endlessly quantities but still. And why you'd want something more expensive is the same as why people want to drink brandy and not cheap 1 silver...
